Dog Bowls for Shelter Animals

A group of friends including adults and kids got together to paint dog bowls for adoptable dogs in out local Seattle shelters. Specifically we did this project for , “National Craft for your local Shelter Day”, on July 21st. We looked at local shelter websites to see names of dogs in the shelter and then painted bowls for as many fur babies as we could.

NOTE: this was a real project, but completed before Paws Up Projects existed.

Biggest Takeaway:

It was extremely fun, creative and worthwhile to do this project. We really connected to the dogs we were painting bowls for and tried to incorporate their individual personalities into the colors, images and words we used.

Biggest Challenge

The biggest challenge was getting supplies. We did get a local store to donate unpainted bowls that we used and also got some donations to purchase the bowls and paint. We made sure the paint used was non-toxic and safe.

Project Impact:

It was so much fun delivering the bowls to the various shelters and seeing the staff/volunteers light up! The bowls are being used for their social media to get these babies adopted into their forever homes! The best part is that the bowls will go home with the adopted dogs!
