Pet Grief Wall

This was a project done by a group of students in my classroom.  It came about because I (teacher), had a dog named Lola that was sick and had passed away.  The students had met her on a previous class visit.  We started talking about all of our pets that we loved and had passed away.  Students also  spoke about pets that were alive, but they missed seeing due to parents divorcing, moving away from family that had pets and unfortunately pets that were brought to the shelter.  This conversation led to action which was the Pet Grief Wall put up in a hallway for our entire middle school.  It’s an interactive bulletin board where anyone (staff, students), can put up a hand drawn or real picture of a pet they miss along with a message.  It was a wonderful project that allowed all students to express their love and grief for their beloved pets.
