As aspiring Silver Award Girl Scouts for troop 31241, our mission is two-fold: not only to raise awareness about TNR and its benefits, but also to empower people like you to join the cause and create TNR trap covers with ease. We are offering a FREE sewing pattern instructions for the TNR trap covers. Designed to be simple, practical, and customizable to suit different trap sizes. By participating in our project, you become part of a growing community of individuals determined to make a positive impact on the lives of feral cats. With your help, we can ensure that these vulnerable creatures have a safe, warm, and stress-free experience during their TNR journey.
Girl Scouts Going for Silver with DIY TNR Trap Covers
Biggest Takeaway:
- Helping the community cats by learning how to measure and sew trap covers to reduce the number of cats without homes.
Biggest Challenge
- Measuring and learning how to sew!
Project Impact:
- Ohlone Humane Society has a trapping team to help trap cats who need to be trapped, neutered and returned to their living areas. The covers are used to go over the traps after the cat is caught to help calm them down so they do not injure themselves in the trap. They were very grateful for our trap covers. One of the requirements for our silver award is to make a sustainable contribution. To do so, we learned how to make our own website at https://howtosewtnrtrapcoverssilverpro.godaddysites.com, post our story and instructions so that anyone could learn how to make the covers. We also posted a video showing our project on YouTube https://youtu.be/Iel3U5eGPYs?si=442cAxj6EeyHqNiO through Ohlone Humane Society and on our website. We already had an email from a person in Illinois who is making covers and sending them out! We are excited to know that we are helping the animals.
